RUHRBANITY 02: CULTURE AND ECONOMY
A series of events by Museum Ostwall Dortmund, TU Dortmund, and Urbane Künste Ruhr
The term RUHRBANITY stands for the particular form of urbanity in the Ruhr area. A fine network of densely built-up arterial roads connects the many residential areas, work and leisure places with each other and forms a basic framework of road spaces with special urban qualities that can be used in many ways. The image of RUHRBANITY superimposes the physical and functional basic structure, the small special sections of the spatial fabric and those subareas with an increased need for lasting transformation and the tapping of their spatial and thematic potential. How can the specific urbanity of the Ruhr agglomeration be made sustainable? What must appropriate design concepts and strategies look like? These are the questions that the organizers of the series of talks and discussions RUHRBANITY want to raise together with regional players and invited guests from outside the region.
