Ringlokschuppen Ruhr

The Ringlokschuppen Ruhr in Mülheim produces performative theatre. Founded in 1995 as a socio-cultural centre, the Ringlokschuppen Ruhr realised site-specific dance and theatre projects in the context of the Ruhrtriennale 2002-2004. The introduction of a programme of regular guest performances and (co-)productions as from 2006 was followed by manifold co-operations with independent theatres and municipal theatres. Apart from exploring post-dramatic theatre forms with groups such as kainkollektiv and copy & waste, the Ringlokschuppen Ruhr regularly initiates participatory projects in urban space ("U[topie]18", "Eichbaumoper", "SchlimmCity"). Other focal points are interdisciplinary platforms such as Fatzer Tage or the media festival Shiny Toys. Since 2012 the Ringlokschuppen Ruhr is member of a EU-sponsored network of seven theatres from Germany, France, the Netherlands, Poland, and Switzerland.
