Michael Sailstorfer creates works of great poetical power by using everyday objects and -processes. He re-arranges them in new relations to each other. He questions the classic sculptural art and extends it by his own art objects that are often related to nature.
Sailstorfer studied at the Akademie für Bildende Künste München (Academy for the Fine Arts Munich) between 1999 and 2005. In 2003, he went to London to continue his training at the Goldsmith College. In the same year he received a scholarship of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes. Recently, Michael Sailstorfer was awarded the Vattenfall Contemporary 2012 and is winner of the art award junger westen 2011.
