The LIGNA group consists of the media and performance artists Ole Frahm, Michael Hüners and Torsten Michaelsen. They work, amongst others, at the Freie Sender Kombinat (FSK), a non-commercial broadcasting station in Hamburg. Their regular programme Ligna’s Music Box is a request programme where listeners can call the studio and play their requested music themselves over the phone. LIGNA understands its audience as a widespread collective of producers. "In 2002 we developed the radio ballet as a model for LIGNA: In a place that was previously public and has now been privatised, listeners receive and follow a choreography of forbidden and barred gestures via headphone."
