Jeppe Hein

The relationship between the individual and its surrounding and psychological reactions on spatial changes form the focus of Jeppe Hein’s artistic practice. In often interactive constructions expending the span from art to architecture, he experiments with variable borders between spatial and social parameters like inside and outside, private and public, integration and exclusion, always assigning the viewer with an active function, thus he becomes a player between artist and piece of art.

From 1993 to 2003, Jeppe Hein studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen and from 1999 until 2000 at the Städel University for Fine Arts in Frankfurt. In Berlin, Hein runs a studio organised as a limited company to fulfil the diverse tasks of an artist for international exhibitions and galleries, as well as art and architecture competitions.
