Hans Op de Beeck
Hans Op de Beeck develops space engrossing installations introducing the recipient to foreign worlds, the so-called locations. He gets his visitors involved and, at the same time, lets his own story retreat to the background. Above that, Op de Beeck produces very quiet, unobtrusive and philosophical experimental films.
The Belgian artist obtained his Master of Visual Arts at the Institut Saint-Luc in Brussels in 1996 and did postgraduate studies at the Institute for Fine Arts in Antwerp (1997) as well as at the National Academy in Amsterdam (1999). In 2006, Hans Op de Beeck was awarded the Eugène Baie Prize in Antwerp and participated at the MoMA-P.S.1 Studio Program in New York in 2002. One of his locations was exhibited at the Biennale in Venice in 2011.
